Oak Herringbone Parquet Installation and custom staining in SE10 North Greenwich, London
We don't receive to often such a particular request like we had for this project: to stain the main floor in one colour, the tramline in a distinct clear finish, and the border in the same colour as the main floor but in a distinct darker tone, having only oak as wood species. Simple to say but involving many risks to create patches and colour variations with overlaps.
After clearing the surface and checking the sub-floor which was in a very good condition we started to plan the project stages in a bit different way than normal. We had to do this right from the first steps to achieve the required result.
The layout was an L shape which meant that a single alignment was a less of a solution so we proposed two directions, with the living room alignment perpendicular to the hallway alignment. Thus we had two main starting lines.
We calculated the distances between walls and chose to have the symmetry in the focal areas.
After the surface was installed a more difficult and patience demanding stage was following, the border with a tramline.
Once the installation was finished and small details cared the working area was thoroughly vacuumed and the equipment was replaced with the sanding machines to prepare the newly fitted herringbone parquet for the bespoke finishing.
Two coats of oil were applied and left to dry after which the furniture was brought back in. As it can be seen in the pictures we managed to deliver the required result including the there colour staining.
