Description

Our aim is to deliver floors crafted for life! A full on site survey is the foundational starting part of any wood flooring work. This step allows us to perfectly understand your requirements and investigate the condition of the subfloor, floor surface, layout, temperature, moisture levels and many other factors.

Over the years we have gained a wealth of experience that enables us to collect and asses much information and data that for the average DIY person will have no meaning or importance.

Often at each site, even before starting any measurements, there is a story waiting to be read. These visible clues underpinned by measurements enable us to suggest a number of solutions and recommend the the best approach.

Our basic rule is each site is different (although at a first glance they are almost all the same). Because of this we didn’t offer a ‘one size fits all’ site survey service. Our assessments start from scratch each time and we always keep an eye open for the less obvious details.

Some of the most common reasons for wooden floors to fail is moisture damage and poor subfloors. But perhaps surprisingly the most significant risk which has an even greater influence on the lifespan of a hardwood floor is uninformed human involvement. Without thorough site surveys, builders, handymen and inexperienced floor layers have jeopardised entire wood flooring projects, sometimes unfortunately beyond repair, leaving homeowners in a desperate situation.

Once we have all the required information we are able to present a solution. As we’ve seen in some more complicated cases we may need more time to corroborate the data and think through different scenarios. In both situations a written detailed estimate / quotation will follow-up by email.

We appreciate time is precious however in-depth information is vital for a successful survey. Surveys fees start from a nominal callout fee of £70+VAT to which we may add additional site survey costs in accordance with its complexity once initially assessed.
