For this project we were in for a not such a pleasant surprise. As usual when having furniture we started by moving it in a safe side. The old laminate was removed as well as the old parquet which was hidden under the laminate. The tar used for bonding the parquet was grinded and all the concrete surface was sealed with liquid DPM.
To compensate the drop in level caused by the removal of the old parquet we boarded the whole area with plywood. Since the sub-floor was ready we could undercut the skirting.
Measurements were taken to understand the angles and the layout of the floor. As the hallway was the main focal point we started aligning the floor from this area.
The project was progressing well and we were on time. A side by side fridge had to be rolled over the new installed boards to allow the installation of the floor to continue. Being a high risk manoeuvre we took great care not to damage the floor. During the night the fridge decided and caused a huge leak over 20sqm of the new wooden floor. The water caused a considerable damage and we had to remove all the cupped boards. This involved a different approach as it was a repair stage and not a installation.
We managed to kept intact the sub-floor and the tongue and groove of the boards with a few exceptions.
In the end we managed to deliver the high result which was expected.
