Wide Walnut engineered boards installation and oil finishing in KT1 Kingston upon Thames

The uniqueness of a walnut floor cannot be matched by any other wood species. A not such a large surface but with the help of the wonderful winding grains and our special attention to details we managed to obtain a beautiful wooden floor.

The subfloor was made of traditional pine boards over joists. After strengthening we abraded the surface to provide a good grip for adhesive. The hallway was chosen to symmetrically align the floor. We also considered the large integrated doormat and integrating the two small steps, one for each back door.
Because of the reduced area we chose not to use a nosig for the two steps and went for a seamless joint of the boards with the small riser. This eliminated the dividing effect which is created with a nosing.

After the installation was completed the new walnut floor was lightly sanded and sealed with two coats of Osmo Oil.  

The final result was a warm and elegant as well as relaxing floor. This was also due to the generous width of the boards.
