Walnut Engineered Boards Installation in W12 Shepherd's Bush, London
Most of the times smaller projects are more demanding than the larger ones especially when multiple stages are involved. This project made no exception.
Once we moved away most of the furniture and carefully stacked and covered the remaining one we had clear access to the working surface. After lifting up the carpet a proper assessment of the concrete sub-floor could be done. As expected it was quite wavy with multiple high and low points. Therefore we grinded step by step the concrete to achieve a flat surface.
As the flat was situated below the street level we sealed the concrete with liquid DPM against potential moisture infiltrations.
The existing skirting was undercut thus the use of beading was avoided as well as unnecessary potential damages to the plaster when replacing the skirting.
After all the preparatory stages were completed we could focus in getting the best layout for the walnut floor. We considered the display of the multiple surfaces, the direction of the natural light and the different focal points. Once we had our conclusions we presented them to our client and together took the best decision. We opted for a double change of direction with a seamless joining.
The superb walnut engineered boards were supplied by The Natural Wood Floor Co., our preferred manufacturer and supplier of quality wooden floors. Â
