Solid Oak Floor Restoration with custom finish and modern stair cladding in SW11 Battersea
It is always a pleasure for us to work for highly demanding clients which from the first meeting tell us precisely what are the requirements. This makes our planning and approach a lot more clear. Of course when the requirements are also high we have to double our efforts.
The old oak floor needed to be restored and the new staircase seamlessly cladded matching the colour of the oak floor.
Once the solid oak floor was sanded and double checked for unseen scratches or other flaws, we started the procedures of preparing it for applying the colour. Our clients wanted white washed look to tone down the very natural character of the wood but to still reveal its wonderful look. The colour was a challenge for us as we had to organise and approach the project towards fulfilling our customer's request.
For stairs we applied our especially developed technique to create seamless joints between risers and treads. Each detail was considered to achieve a simple and harmonious stairway.
We aimed to cover the steps with wide boards to avoid unnecessary joints. Once completed the new steps were sanded and prepared for applying the finishing oil. Although both the old floor and the newly cladded stairway were oak an important difference was visible between them, mainly through the grain character.
We are pleased that when we completed the work our clients were truly happy and smiling with or results.
