For our latest project we removed a damaged jatoba wooden floor from a house in Wimbledon, replacing it with a lighter pre-oiled oak floor. The new flooring was fitted in two reception rooms, three flights of curving stairs and the landings.
You can never have too much of a good thing. That’s what the homeowners of a converted Victorian property thought when it came to their new parquet wood floor. Initially we fitted the parquet, with a subtle grey oil finish, in the living room.
Stairs are usually one of the first things you see on entering a home and as we all know, first impressions really do count. If your existing stairs need revitalising, stair cladding with wood is a fantastic option. As well as improving the look of the stairs, our work can also strengthen the structure, making the staircase more robust and safer.
Working on older properties can be a challenge but the end results are always spectacular. This project, in a converted warehouse in Bermondsey, was no exception. We replaced a dated laminate floor with a new dark engineered wood, which completely refreshed and enhanced the industrial style interior.
We are glad to see how our modern stair cladding service is chosen more and more. In the new built basement a wonderful floor was previously installed and we were called to clad the stairs with the same wood. The design features were all modern with clean crisp edges and the stairways couldn't make any exception.
This was an extensive project which required the involvement of all the Fin Wood team. We had to install more than 350sqm of engineered oak boards on four different levels with various types of subfloors and conditions. The stairs were cladded also with custom solid oak boards matching the floor boards.
Stair cladding is one of our services that allows us to prove our skills. A particular aspect of this project was to seamlessly connect the cladded stairs with the landings which were already finished with luxury vinyl. It is a bit special since the thickness of our engineered boards used for cladding was surpassing the thickness of the vinyl surface with more than 7mm.
We truly like this solution of cladding the stairway. It brings a clear and crisp look of the stairs by eliminating the majority of the joints leaving only the essential ones. The look is of a solid yet supple structure allowing the wide, uninterrupted wood surfaces to reveal the grains natural beauty.
