Custom Antique Oak Herringbone Parquet with Traditional Stair Detailing, Waltham Forest E4
#CraftedForLife
The customers were drawn to our Studio Collection range but wanted to further refine the tones to perfectly suit their personal tastes. To achieve this, they chose our custom colour service, allowing for a truly tailored finish. As part of the project, all skirting boards throughout the space were also replaced to complete the cohesive look.
Seamless Detailing with Two-Tone Oak Border
The herringbone parquet is part of our Studio Collection, crafted in antique oak with a subtle two-tone Osmo colour finish. This engineered wood flooring, in premier grade, features 15mm thick blocks measuring 70 x 280mm, offering both durability and suitable proportions for a refined look. The design is framed with a tramline border made from the same antique oak, stained two tones darker and finished with clear oil for a beautifully defined contrast.

A Distinctive Feature Balancing Form and Function
On the half landing of the first staircase, we designed and installed a distinctive medallion feature. To complement rather than compete with the herringbone parquet pattern, we proposed this clean geometric design that offered both visual balance and practical function. The result is an elegant focal point that enhances the flow between the staircase and surrounding spaces.

Bespoke Stair Cladding with Curved Detailing
The project also included extensive oak stair cladding, along with structural reinforcement of the existing staircase. The clients chose a traditional design featuring rounded bullnose treads with a scotia profile beneath, faithfully reflecting the original 1930s character of the property. Both risers and treads were clad in the same oak finish as the flooring for a cohesive look. At the base of the staircase, we crafted an elegant curved border around the bottom step—formed from the same engineered oak, seamlessly shaped to perfection.

Traditional Elegance with a Warm Oak Finish
The bedrooms feature a warm, traditional colour palette that complements the property’s heritage style. In the large bay-windowed room, the flooring was expertly curved to follow the natural contour of the bay, enhancing both the craftsmanship and character of the space.
