High quality flooring with reinforced subflooring
For this modern terrace property in Essex, the owners sought a quiet, high-quality floor to enhance their living space. The existing floors, installed by developers, were made from an inexpensive chipboard, which lacked durability and sound insulation. To address this, we first reinforced the subfloor, then laid a high-performance impact sound reduction membrane beneath the new flooring.
Customers also preferred a modern traditional style stair cladding.

There are two main types of soundproofing that can be considered for flooring. An Impact Sound Reduction Membrane is an acoustic underlay that will reduce sound through the subfloor. Customers also preferred a modern traditional style stair cladding with a mix of wooden steps and white risers. He wanted us to keep the existing oak handrail by sanding, restoring and painting.

We applied our expert craftsmanship to strengthen the joints of the staircase structure, effectively eliminating its creakiness. Stabilising the staircase required meticulous work and attention to detail, but the result was a solid, quiet ascent. The customer opted for a contemporary style staircase cladding, combining the warmth of wooden treads with the clean look of white-painted risers for a balanced and elegant finish. To retain some of the original character, they requested that we keep the existing oak handrail. Our team carefully sanded, restored, and painted it, allowing the handrail to blend seamlessly with the updated design while maintaining its classic appeal.

Knot-Free Wood Flooring and Undercut Skirting Boards
After reconstructing and insulating the subfloor, we moved on to installing the new wooden floor. Our customers preferred a clean, refined look without knots, so they selected premier-grade wood, ensuring a smooth and flawless appearance. They opted for Oak Board Premier Oiled Clear 15x125mm available directly from Fin Wood. To maintain the integrity of the existing design, we carefully undercut the skirting boards, achieving a seamless transition from floor to wall that complemented the room’s elegant finish.
