We expertly fitted Natural Lacquered Antique Oak Boards on the first floor landing, two bedrooms, and the office replacing the old carpet. As the ground floor already had an existing wooden floor, this upgrade upstairs along with the new staircase provided a cohesive and elegant look throughout the property.

Our customers love period properties and period features and they particularly appreciated the American colonial style and wanted to incorporate this look into their home. This classic American look features dark wood, traditional features and usually a grand staircase and fireplace. To achieve this preferred look, we incorporated a rounded bullnose feature on the edge of the steps, seamlessly blending with the overall colonial design. Engineered wood is designed to increase stability and this is the ideal material for staircase reconstruction. The new structure of the steps benefited from the stability of engineered wood and avoided the common issues of cracks, cupping or warping found in solid wood.

The reconstruction of the staircase resulted in a strong, flawless finish. The new staircase appears as if it has been made from a solid piece of oak with beautifully carved out edges.
The subfloor was in a poor condition and required significant attention to ensure improved stability. We secured the loose pine subfloor boards to create a solid foundation. To preserve the original aesthetic and avoid damaging the walls, we carefully undercut the skirting boards, allowing us to keep the original skirting intact.

We meticulously calculated a precise starting line to achieve a balanced, symmetrical layout and avoid narrow offcuts of wood at the edges. Despite the challenge of old, wobbly walls, we worked diligently to create the appearance of a straight floor. As always, we installed the floor by glueing it down rather than opting for a floating installation, ensuring stability and durability.
