Standout random width floor for an outstanding riverside property
This project was located in Riverview Gardens, in a prestigious group of Edwardian mansion flats situated along the bank of the River Thames. The property is distinguished by beautifully maintained private gardens and its coveted, uninterrupted river frontage, both of which contribute to the special character and charm of the residence. This stand-out property required a special floor with a robust sound proofing system. The customers opted for Natural Oak Boards Unsealed and laid randomly in five different sizes.

Specialised soundproofing for quiet living
Sound insulation in these prestigious apartments was a critical concern for the customers. Due to the property’s stringent noise controls and restrictions, the customer enlisted the services of a specialist sound insulation company. A custom sound insulation system was designed specifically tailored to the property's specific needs. The system incorporated a multi-layered approach to effectively reduce both airborne and impact sound, ensuring a quieter and more comfortable living environment for all residents.

Successful sound installation complying with to noise standards

Thorough preparation provides informed flooring selection
The customer had thoroughly researched the project and engaged in detailed discussions with Fin Wood before moving forward. During the project, we discovered that the spaces between the joists were filled with old building rubble. The rubble was an old coal mining byproduct previously used for sound insulation but is no longer suitable for use. We carefully removed the rubble along with the old floorboards and carpet, meticulously cleaning the area, before applying a new sound insulation system. This system left no air gaps or points for sound to travel, ensuring maximum sound insulation efficiency. Once the subfloor work was completed, we began the most anticipated stage, installing the beautiful wooden floor. The customer was particularly interested in the sustainability of a random width floor and made a visit to our showroom to consider the various options and finalise her choice of wood.

We paid special attention to the details to ensure all the floorboards were laid symmetrically. Despite the challenges of the long narrow hallway, the layout enhanced the space and maintained a sense of balance. Additionally, the floor passed all sound insulation tests, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics were achieved in this stunning renovation.
